Best Beaches in Indonesia

Undeniably one of the best places to visit in Asia if you’re looking for beaches (along with the beaches of the Philippines), Indonesia has long been regarded as one of the top places to visit if you’re looking for a good getaway.

And whilst Bali makes up much of the talk when considering Indonesian beaches to visit, that’s not all there is out there. So, let’s look at the best beaches in Indonesia, including those that aren’t located in Bali.

Best Beaches in Indonesia

There are many beautiful beaches in Indonesia that offer beaches for visitors to enjoy. Here are some beaches in Indonesia: The best season to visit this beach is during the months of January to March because in April until June there are often winds blowing from the South which can cause dangerous rip currents.

Pink Beach, Komodo Islands

pink-beach Where else can we start than the famous Pink beach, found amongst the Komodo Islands in Indonesia. Whilst most people come to see the inhabitants of the island, that’s not the only reason to visit.

Sure, the Komodo dragons are fascinating, but the wildife in the ocean is also very intriguing. This is one of the best snorkelling destinations in Indonesia, and you’ll be sure to see some interesting fish. It’s a great place for beginner snorkelers too, as you can find some shallow areas which have tons of different sea creatures to see too.

In fact, the beach get’s it’s color from the coral reefs. As well as snorkelling, you can also enjoy other activities here, like kayaking. However, the majority who go here want to experience something a little different, and maybe even get some amazing photos on their journey too. So if you’re going to Indonesia, make sure Komodo island is on your visit list.

Gili Islands

gili-meno The Gili islands are another well known place for you to explore in Indonesia, just north of Lombok. There are three islands here, and each of them have different things to offer.

For the best beaches, you’ll want to stop by Gili Trawangan. This is the largest of the three islands, and it’s considered by most to be one of the best in the whole of Asia. This is also the busiest of the islands, and you’ll find bars and restaurants galore on this island.

Somewhere between the other two islands is Gili Air, which still has a good variety of places to go, but it isn’t at hectic as it can be on Trawangan. For many, it’s a great balance between business and having nothing to do.

However, my personal favorite out of the three islands is Gili Meno (pictured). It’s the quietest of the bunch, and it’s an excellent place to go for both snorkelling and diving too. Out of the three, this is the best choice if you’re looking for somewhere to Honeymoon. There’s also an awesome turtle sanctuary on this island, too.

Sire Beach

sire-beach The Gili islands are just to the North West of the island of Lombok. But, you don’t actually need to leave the island itself to find some amazing beaches. One of these is definitely Sire beach, considered one of Lombok’s best.

This beach is still relatively secluded, though it’s becoming more well known, primarily due to it’s beautiful sunsets. There aren’t too many folks around this area, though they are putting up more hotels at the present.

Generally, people love to visit Indonesia because it’s one of the most affordable places to visit in Asia, and Lombok is no different. Whilst you can find expensive upmarket accommodation here, you can also find reasonably priced places to stay too.

So, if you’re going to Lombok, then it makes sense to visit both Sire beach and the Gili’s, as they’re only a 15 minute boat ride offshore.

Trikora Beach, Bintan

Trikora-Beach Well known amongst Singaporeans, Bintan island is less than an hours ferry journey away from the economic powerhouse of South-east Asia. Because of this, there are many high end hotels and golf courses located on Bintan island.

Around Bintan, as you’d expect there are different attractions and beaches to explore. The most well known of these is definitely Trikora beach, which is located on the Eastern side of Bintan.

The beach is filled with soft white sand, and the water is clean and clear. There isn’t many restaurants or even public facilities nearby to Trikora, so it really is secluded. It’s also a pretty popular place for fisherman too, as there’s an abundance of different fish here to catch, which makes for some of the best seafood.

For those visiting Bintan or even Singapore, spending a few days near Trikora beach is recommended if you need to unwind.

Pangandaran beach, Java

Pangandaran-beach-Java Java island is known for being the home of the capital of Indonesia, Jakarta, but there are also some amazing beaches on this island too. None of them better than Pangandaran beach, which is on the Southside of the island. It isn’t the easiest place to get to, but it’s definitely worth the travel when you get there.

A cool time to visit Pangandaran is during July, which is when they host their international kite festival. During this time, the beach will be filled with people showing off their kites, and it can be a fun experience for kids to enjoy.

Overall, if you’re going to visit Java as an island, then this is definitely one of the best beaches here. The black and white sand makes it quite unique, and it’s the perfect balance of quite and having enough activities to keep you busy.

Conclusion

In conclusion, it’s no secret that Indonesia is home to some of the best beaches not only in Asia, but in the whole world. With many different islands there to explore, it can be difficult to even know where to begin! For many, it’s difficult to beat Bali – but don’t neglect the rest of Indonesia either.
