Best Beaches in the Philippines

There aren’t many places throughout Asia and indeed the world as well known for their beaches as the Philippines. The Philippines itself consists of more than 7000 different islands, and as you can imagine, amongst them are some amazing beaches.

It can be difficult to even know where to start when it comes to the Philippines. But if you’re adamant you want to visit, then here are some of the beaches that you’re definitely not going to want to miss.

Best Beaches in the Philippines

The beaches of the Philippines are scattered along the 8,000 km coastline. The beaches that stretch for miles on end include beaches in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. They are some of the most famous beaches in the world as well, and similar to the beaches of Malaysia. The beaches there are renowned by Filipinos for its fine white sand beaches, fine corals and crystal clear water.

Marimegmeg Beach, Palawan

Marimegmeg-Beach One of the first places you’ll want to consider when looking for beaches in the Philippines is Palawan, an exotic island located as the most Western point of the Philippine islands.

In the North of Palawan, you’ll find El Nido. And on the Western coast in El Nido, you’ll find Marimegmeg Beach, which is one of the best beaches in the Philippines.

This place manages to find a good balance between having things to do, and serenity. Whilst it’s by no means a secret and it’s often quite busy, it’s not filled with party-goers like many other Asian islands.

Of course, due to it’s location it’s one of the top spots to be in the evening when the sun starts to set, with even the locals often venturing down to the beach to witness it.

There are many great beaches on Palawan, and one of the top ones is undoubtedly Marimegmeg Beach. So, if you get the chance to experience it, don’t turn it down!

White Beach, Boracay

You can get here pretty easily with a flight from Manila to Godfredo Airport, and a short boat ride between Cataclan and Boracay. The white sand and clear water make it one of the best places on the island.

Although it’s pretty well known and there are tourists here, it isn’t inundated with them and you’ll still be able to find a spot to relax. The locals here help to keep the beach extremely clean, so you don’t need to worry about this (just don’t litter!).

As well as the beach, you’ll also have D’talipapa seafood market, which is just around the corner. If you’re a seafood lover, then you’ll definitely want to stop here and see what they have to offer.

Dumaluan Beach, Panglao Island

Dumaluan-Beach Dumaluan beach is located on Panglao Island, which is a fairly secluded island with good beaches and some interesting caves to explore too.

It’s a little bit out of town to get to, which is one reason why there’s not so many people here at Dumaluan. But their loss is definitely your gain, as the surrounding coconut trees and the blue water are amazing to look at.

Although there isn’t the same amount of different food sports here to grab something to eat, there are a few that are pretty good. You can get some great barbecued food here for a pretty reasonable price.

Even though it’s not free of tourists, it’s much quieter and less busy than the more well known Alona Beach, which is also pretty great. So, Dumaluan is another great Filipino beach to add to your list if you’re looking for somewhere relaxed.

Cloud 9, Siargao Island

cloud-9 One of the best surfing spots in the Philippines, Cloud 9 is not just for expert surfers, If you’re interested in trying surfing out for the first time, then it’s definitely a good place for a beginner to ride their first wave too.

There are a lot of experienced surfers in the area, so you can easily find a lot of board rental and training spots on the beach. It’s not too expensive for you to learn how to surf here either, even if you’re on a tight budget.

Whilst it’s primarily a great place for surfers, that’s not all you can do here – it’s a good place to just relax and listen to the waves crashing against the rocks.

There are also a lot of small stalls around this area too, where you can easily grab a cheap bite to eat. So if you’re interested in surfing, then Siargao island is the place to be in the Philippines.

Bounty Beach, Malapascua Island

bounty-beach Right in the middle of the largest islands of the Philippines you’ll find Malapascua Island, which is home to the pretty amazing Bounty Beach.

This place is probably best known for it’s shark diving, giving people the opportunity to dive with Thresher sharks. Don’t worry – they’re considered to be harmless to humans, and they’re actually at risk of being extinct, so there may not be the opportunity to see them in the future.

These sharks can grow to more than 20 feet in length, and they’re not particularly common outside of the Philippines – especially Malapascua island. But, that’s not all this island is good for.

Especially Bounty beach, which has inviting soft sand and it’s a good place to bring the entire family. There are also tons of restaurants here to choose from too, so it’s a foodies delight. Overall, Malapascua could be the perfect place to take your next vacation.

Conclusion

Amongst the thousands of different islands that the Philippines has to offer, it can be really difficult to determine which beach is the best, and of course there are more amazing beaches that aren’t featured here.

Whether you want to find a built up resort with stuff for the kids to do, or you want to find a quiet little beach to getaway from work, you can find both of these in the Philippines. With friendly locals and great food, it has pretty much everything.
