The Eastern Caribbean island is well known for it’s good food, relaxed atmosphere and as home to some of the best beaches around. Whilst it’s actually relatively small like St Lucia, there are still many different locations that you’ll want to visit here. But with so many different options, which ones are the top choices? The Beaches in Barbados are popular with many people worldwide, and it seems very unlikely that this popularity will suddenly decline. The Beaches of Barbados can be compared to the Beaches of Saint Lucia as they both provide astonishing sandy beaches for holiday makers to relax on or even play sport on.

Above all else, the Beaches have great water sports facilities such as jetskis, diving and snorkeling. Also because the Beaches are so close together it is easier for people to travel between them meaning you can spend half a day at one beach before travelling down to the next! This is ideal for those who want to get up early one day and stay out late the next.

Mullins beach

Located on the West coast of Barbados, Mullins beach has been a popular options for tourists for many years. Despite what you may hear, it’s still one of the busier beaches on the island. This isn’t the biggest beach here, but what it lacks in size, it makes up for in the amount of activities you can choose to enjoy.

There are many different watersports you can take part in if you’re visiting Mullins beach, including using the donuts and the more popular water ski-ing. If you’ve never tried before, then this could definitely be a good place to give it a go, as they do accommodate beginners.

Be prepared for this beach to be quite busy, as it can get so during the main season here. There’s also a great beach bar where you can grab a burger or a drink, and there’s a large car park here as well. So, if you’re renting a vehicle, you can easily find a spot.

Silver sands beach, Barbados

Though not really a beach suited to beginners or those looking for a casual swim, it’s definitely one of the best views you can get from the island. It’s positioned on the south side of the island, around a 30 minute drive from the center of Bridgetown.

As well as having some of the best sights form the island, it’s also one of the top sports if you’re interested in trying out water activities. Why? Well, the wind here can get pretty strong and the waves can get quite choppy. This makes it an ideal location for those interested in windsurfing and kitesurfing too.

Whilst you can enjoy the sandy beach itself, there are also rocky parts of this area too, as well as a park if you want to play with the kids. So, this beach isn’t a great option if you’re looking to relax, but if you want to give watersports a go, then head down to Silver Sands beach.

Rockley Beach (Accra)

Still on the Southside of the island but a little closer to Bridgetown, you’ll find Rockley beach, also referred to as Accra beach due to the hotel that’s located on it’s front.

This is one of the most convenient beaches to get to for many people visiting the Bahamas, so it’s often pretty busy. The sand here is smooth and fine, and unlike many other areas of the island where it can get quite rough, the waves here aren’t too strong (though by no means calm, either).

Rockley beach is good for pretty much everything. it’s a great beach if you just want to turn up and do some sunbathing, and it’s also excellent if you want to go for a casual swim too. But, there’s also a good amount of activities that you can enjoy at Rockley beach too, with some good spots for snorkelling around the beach too.

If the Sun gets too hot, then there are a few places here where you can rent an umbrella and some chairs. A lot of locals tend to come to this beach too, which is a good sign that it’s one of the better beaches in the area. It’s very easy to find this beach too, as it’s not too far from the road. And overall, it’s one of the top options if you’re looking to stay relatively close to Bridgetown.

Pebbles Beach

Another beach which is very close to Bridgetown is Pebbles beach – in fact, it’s only a 5 minute drive from the center. Although the name might lead you to think that it’s lined with rocks and pebbles, it couldn’t be further from the truth! This beach is covered in sand which is nice and soft

One thing that this beach is pretty well known for is the swimming horses, which you can catch typically only very early in the morning. This attracts quite a bit of attention, as it’s not every day you get to see horses swimming in the ocean. The racehorse trainers from the local Garrison Savannah racetrack bring their horses here to cool off.

These aren’t the only interesting animals that you’ll see at Pebbles beach – if you’re lucky, you can also catch the sea turtles a little way out into the sea too. This makes it a great place to go snorkelling, as you’ll be able to see turtles, as well as a ton of different fish here too.

So, for one of the more popular locations on the island, Pebbles beach is definitely worth coming too if you’re staying in Bridgetown. It has clean blue water, soft sand and some activities to keep you busy too.

Brownes Beach

The next beach along from Pebbles beach is actually Brownes beach, which is another amazing beach to visit. Of course, it’s pretty similar to the beach next door, and you can easily walk from one to another, so I’d advise you to visit both in one visit.

Like it’s neighbour, this is often one of the busiest beaches on the island, and it can get extremely busy if a cruise ship pulls up for the day, although you’ll always be able to rent a sun lounger here to relax in.

The beach as a whole is very well maintained and always clean like most of the beaches on Barbados. This spot is one of the top places on the island to catch the sun going down too, so it’s can be a great place to come in the morning and stay for the entire day.
