Known for having some of the best food in the area, Saint Vincent is a volcanic island in the Caribbean. Along with a group of islands named collectively as the Grenadines, they make up the country St Vincent and the Grenadines. You can also take a look at the top beaches in Jamaica.

As well as amazing food, this area is also known for having some absolutely amazing beaches too. But which of them should you try to make time to visit? Well, here are some of the best beaches in St Vincent and the Grenadines.

Best Beaches in St Vincent and the Grenadines

There are many Beaches in the Grenadines that are worth visiting. Beaches Point in Bequia is extraordinary and so is the Beaches in Canouan, Bequia, Union Island, Mayreau and St Vincent Beaches too.

Lower Bay Beach

Just off the South coast of St Vincent, you’ll find the second largest island here, Bequia. The name is actually taken from Ancient South American for ‘island of the clouds”, which is a pretty good description for this area.

On this island, one of the best beaches here is Lower Bay Beach. For many people who are looking for a quieter vibe, it’ll be the ideal place to come and kick back with a rum or three.

Whilst there isn’t a great deal to do except chill out at lower bay beach, it’s definitely one of the best beaches in the Grenadines. The sand is soft and the water a beautiful bright blue, making it one of the most picturesque places in the entire Caribbean.

So if you’re looking for peace and tranquility in this region, then I’d advise that you come to Bequia and specifically Lower Bay beach – it’s close to perfect if you’re looking for a relaxed atmosphere.

Princess Margaret Beach

And while we’re on the topic of Bequia, it’s also good to mention another beach just along the road from Lower Bay. Princess Margaret beach is only around a 20 minute walk along the sea, so it’s a good idea to check both of these amazing beaches out at the same time.

These two beaches are very similar to one another, with the main difference being that Princess Margarets is actually pretty good for snorkelling too. The water here is crystal clear, so it’s very easy to see underwater, as well as there being a good array of fish to see here as well. In fact, many people prefer this beach to Lower Bay.

It’s also worth mentioning that people tend to come to this beaches not only for the beach, but also the bars and restaurants that line them. Here, you’ll be able to get some pretty delicious seafood, as well as some nice cocktails if they take your fancy too. So, if you’re visiting each of these two great beaches, make sure that you check both of them out whilst you’re there.

Salt Whistle Bay

Another one of the most well known beaches in the Grenadines is Salt Whistle Bay. This beach is located on Mayreau, an island even further South than Bequia, about midway between St Vincent and another popular beach destination in the Caribbean, Grenada. This small beach cove is the perfect place to get away from it all.

Whilst you can come here on your own accord, many people use this area as a sailing spot when travelling through the Caribbean. So, you’ll see a lot of different sailboats coming into the bay here.

You have to get here via sea, as there’s no airport or landing strip on Mayreau. Aside from sailing directly here, the best way it to fly into nearby .Union Island and get a water taxi to the island – you can get flights to Union island via Barbados or St Vincent itself.

So whilst it may seem that it’s quite a lot of effort to get here, and it is, it’s definitely worth the hassle. The sea here is very calm and crystal clear too, plus it’s very shallow, so it suits those that don’t feel too confident in the water.

Lagoon Beach

The private island of Mustique is a little further out than Bequia, and it has some of the best beaches the Grenadines has to offer here. One of them is Lagoon beach, which is a fairly long beach that wraps round the entire South-west corner of the island itself.

As the name kind of gives away here, there’s actually a large lagoon here. Around the lagoon is an enjoyable nature trail, so if you’re up to a pretty short walk, then it might make for a good adventure.

Like you’d expect from a beach right on the edge of the island, it also provides some of the best views you’re going to get. It’s the perfect place to come in the morning to watch the sunrise, as it sits right on the corner of the island, you’ll be able to get some awesome panoramic views.

One thing to also mention about Lagoon beach is that there’s not a whole lot of things nearby. So, it might be a good idea to bring snacks and other things you’ll need throughout the day when you come to Lagoon beach, because it’s very secluded.

Britannia Beach

Many people think that Lagoon Beach is the best on the island of Mustique. But one of the better known beaches that’s a must visit is also Britannia Bay – this is the only place on the island that allows moorings, so if you plan to sail here, this is where you’ll need to park your boat.

The island itself is only a few kilometers in length, so there aren’t that many different areas here for you to explore. The people here are very welcoming when you visit, and if you aren’t sure where else to visit on the island, then they’ll be sure to give you some good advice.

This beach is perfect for both swimming and for snorkelling too, with clear waters, super clean beaches and some of the best views that the Caribbean has to offer. So overall, this is another great places to come and visit if you’re in the Grenadines.
